Don’ts of Choosing a Motivational Speaker

In one of our previous blogs, we talked about 4 things to consider before choosing a motivational speaker for an event. In this blog, we will be talking about the mistakes of choosing the wrong motivational speaker that doesn’t set with the theme of your event. With hundreds of motivational speakers in Los Angeles, ca, alone, here are a few rookie mistakes you must refrain from.

Don’ts of Choosing a Speaker: Stay Away from These Mistakes

Choosing the right speaker is of vital importance to your event. With the pandemic upending the business continuity for every organization, every company was compelled to shift its processes to the virtual world. This led to virtual meetings, hangouts, and events. And it is not easy to conduct such a meeting while holding every person’s attention to the T. Motivational speakers make the task easy while ensuring the success of your event. However, as an organizer, you must stay away from these mistakes and avoid these booking mistakes.

Don’t book an overrated speaker

It’s quite natural for organizers to fall for the trend and go for the most popular speaker with the highest bookings. However, you must keep in mind the purpose of your event and the kind of tone you want to set for your environment. Also, you must realize that the higher the popularity, the more is the charging fee.

Don’t go for a one-size-fits-all approach

It is interesting to note that certain speakers tend to follow and maintain the same tone of their speech regardless of the kind of the event. They are unwilling to make their speech diverse and keep it flexible. In such cases, as an organizer, it’s important to realize that this certain coolness/ novelty factor might not work for your event. This reduces the relevance and relatability factor among the audience and instills a sense of disinterest among people.

Don’t hire a preacher

Coaching is one thing. However, it’s quite probable for a speech to start sounding dogmatic and close-minded. You must do your research and go through a prospective speaker’s recordings and event videos.
